Denise King

Active in New York politics for over thirty years, Denise King of Chatham, Columbia County is a founding Director of ERLC and has served as a member of its Executive and Campaign Committees. She has worked on countless local, state and national races, most notably the election of Hillary Clinton to the Senate and Kirsten Gillibrand to Congress. King has been a member of the Democratic National Committee, serving as Chair of the Rural Council, a member of the Rules and By-laws Committee, and as an at-large member on the Democratic National Convention Platform Committee. She Chaired the NYSDC Executive Committee for five years; the Democratic Rural Conference of NY for three years; and the Columbia County Democratic Committee for nine years. In addition, King has served several times as a national convention delegate and as a member of the Electoral College.

A native of Massachusetts, King did her undergraduate work at the University of Massachusetts and earned her Masters Degree at SUNY Albany. She has been a public school teacher for over twenty-five years. She has been active in her district as a trainer of Mentor and Intern Teachers, a Grade-level Leader, and on the Strategic Planning and Evaluation Committees. She has been a leader in her union, serving as a delegate for NEA and NYSUT. King founded both the elementary and middle school PTAs in her community and served as board member of the Columbia County Youth Bureau. She was honored in 2007 by Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood with its Advocate for Choice Award. King is the mother of two grown sons, Jonathan of Clifton Park and Andrew of Port Chester, and grandmother of Annabelle.
