Attend a Candidate School

ERLC Candidate Schools help women develop the skills they need to win elections. These day-long intensive training experiences enable potential candidates to formulate a campaign strategy specific to their race and individual goals.

Attend an Event

ERLC hosts events throughout the year across New York State addressing current issues and topics concerning women in politics today. Our events feature women who currently hold office willing to share their personal experiences on the campaign trail as well as insights into how to move up the ladder once in office. We also often feature women in the world of academics who outline their groundbreaking research on women running for and winning public office. Annually we honor leaders and elected officials at our spring fundraisers in Albany and Manhattan as well as our Annual Fall Luncheon which draws over 1,000 women. For candidates or women looking for political training we encourage you to sign-up now for an upcoming campaign school and develop the skills to win. Our events are open to all and we hope you will join us and invite friends to one of upcoming events!

If you have a particular political story you would like to share with us—whether it be a petition you hope to get signatures for, a cause or issue you want our members to know about, an event you are planning, a news story from your local paper, or just your experiences from working on a campaign, running for office, meeting Eleanor Roosevelt or another famous figure, or even an interesting conversation that you had with your friends—we want to hear about it and encourage others to do the same!

Register to Vote

Voting is by far the most important way to make your voice heard in American government. Women in America did not gain the right to vote until 1920, after nearly 70 years of tireless struggle by countless suffrage activists. In the 1960s, women began to vote in greater numbers than men and during the 1980s they began to vote in a substantially different manner, making women’s voices the deciding factor in every election since then. By exercising your right to vote, you honor the generations of women’s rights activists in this country and take an active roll in choosing our next generation of national leaders.
