Voting is by far the most important way to make your voice heard in American government. Women in America did not gain the right to vote until 1920, after nearly 70 years of tireless struggle by countless suffrage activists. In the 1960s, women began to vote in greater numbers than men and during the 1980s they began to vote in a substantially different manner, making women’s voices the deciding factor in every election since then. By exercising your right to vote, you honor the generations of women’s rights activists in this country and take an active roll in choosing our next generation of national leaders.

How to Register

Registering to vote is an extremely simple process; just print out the New York State Board of Elections Voter Registration Form and mail it to your county board of elections (address included on the form).

To check the status of your voter registration and find your polling place and voting district, click here. Look up your friends as well and encourage them to vote if they are not already registered!

For more information, please see the New York State Board of Elections website or contact your local county board of elections.
