Nancy
First and foremost, I share with you a few experiences along the way, while following Hillary and her climb to the top.
My father, a political figure in our local republican party, introduced politics to me in quite the same way Hillary was introduced - as a child and young adult. One thing I learned, people have special needs, and life comes in many shapes and sizes.
When I heard about our future First Lady, and her fight for Health Care, I knew I had to jump on the band wagon, as the saying goes. I was honored to be one of the riders on BUS #1 with dignitaries and celebrities, from Boston to the White House, fighting for Universal Health Care, FOR ALL. But before I left I notified our local TV Station, and they asked me to talk about the trip... From the time we left Boston, I was honored when the organizers asked if I would speak out, at several different stops along the way. one being Albany NY, close to my home town, where my father, a republican Mayor at the time, wrote to the local papers, telling everyone I was traveling on the bus in support of Hillarys Fight for Health Care, and the press showed up... I told the press, it doesn't take a party to cure America. I could go on and on about the experience, but I have so much more to share.
I managed, on my own, to interview EVERY Presidential Candidate on the opposite side, on Universal Health Care, and its future. I talked with Bob Dole for over an hour, and I joke today, I don't come close to Barbara Walters. Lamar walked for his cause, as I pushed my wheelchair up hills, through parks and into valleys of New Hampshire, to get a personal interview. I finally had his office calling me. Arlen Spector... was another step ... he granted me time to talk about Health Care. (Today I am pleased that he switched to our party!)
After three years of residing in Manchester NH... given many opportunities to continue my fight as an advocate for Health Care, speaking on the same stage with Senator Ted Kennedy, for SAVE our SECURITY at Fanuiel Hall in Boston... and the Senator staying behind to talk with me, with a reporter from the globe... it continues.
I moved back to our home town, Saratoga Springs NY and brought HILLARY with me. She began her fight for Senator of our State... and I began being known as a Democrat in NY for Hillary. The house party was covered both in NYC newspapers and on the front page of the Saratogian. It was a time when many people felt Hillary wouldn't make it in NY... but I knew different.
I followed her as Senator and once more, jumped on the band wagon when she announced her bid for President of the United States. I had no doubt, whatsoever, that she would make it. But the world was changing, and the states in general were finally waking up to the fact that the existing President, had ruined our country, our economy, and left a sour feeling world wide. People wanted change.
In my heart, I wanted Hillary as President, but today, I know she is in a spot where she can help us world wide... her life, her responsibility to help all of us... You see, changing roles will never change the Hillary I got to know and love.
