Eleanor's Legacy

Sadia - Brooklyn

Eleanor Roosevelt said it best, “A woman is like a tea bag- you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” How true that is!

Throughout Hillary Clinton’s campaign, I viewed her as a powerful political candidate first, and a woman second. However, when the race became close and voices rose from all sides asking her to quit, Hillary refused to back down. This is when I came to the realization that this is a woman. There is strength in her that only other women can know of. Where many men would have resigned to defeat, our Hillary fought until the end. I remember when I heard the official news that Hillary had lost the race, yes, I cried and boycotted the news for days to follow; but all that aside, I was so very proud on that day to be a woman because the race Hillary lost was a race no woman had run before; a race that every girl can now dream to run.
