“If they don’t give you a seat, bring a folding chair.”

– Shirley Chisholm

Throughout the year, Eleanor’s Legacy hosts events to honor the many women making changes in New York State and around the country and to raise money for its campaign grant program.

Eleanor’s Legacy Annual Luncheon

In the fall of each year, the Luncheon raises the money needed to fund the Eleanor’s Legacy Campaign Grant program. The first Luncheon was held in October 2001 to rally around pro-choice Democratic women candidates – an idea that evolved into the creation of Eleanor’s Legacy. The Luncheon brings together women candidates with women who turn out the vote during the final crucial weeks as Election Day approaches. The speaking program combines women with a national profile with New York political figures, underscoring that it’s a whole movement working in coalition to elect women up and down the ballot.

Eleanor’s Legacy Spring Breakfast

The Spring Breakfast started as an event to honor women from the organized labor movement, which is a critical partner in the coalition that comes together to elect progressive women leaders. It has evolved into an event that provides an opportunity for women candidates to connect with Eleanor’s Legacy supporters as campaign season gets underway and candidates are stepping forward to run.

Eleanor’s Legacy Summer Event

Bringing together the women of Long Island’s Suffolk and Nassau counties every summer, Eleanor’s Legacy gets out of New York City and into the counties where we have long history of working alongside local Democratic women’s organizations.
